SGS ELEKTRIK IIE SUMIRAT

Iie Sumirat (born in Bandung, West Java, 15 November 1950, age 62 years) is Indonesian badminton player. He was a member of "The Magnificent Seven" Indonesian badminton in the 1970s with Rudi Hartono, Liem Swie King, Tjun Tjun, Johan Wahyudi, Christian Hadinata and Ade Tjandra.
Iie Sumirat known as the humorous and eccentric players when outside and inside the badminton court, even when the game. One is the famous eccentric behavior at the Thomas Cup final in 1979 against Denmark, suddenly Iie Sundanese dance style in front of his opponent Svend Pri. Iie win over Pri, and the right to bring Indonesian Thomas Cup. It is unclear whether Iie victory for opponents concentration distracted by dancing.
Iie Sumirat retired from badminton in 1982 at the age of 32 years. He went on to coach badminton and establish Means PB Young who later became SGS Elektrik which gave birth to Taufik Hidayat. Iie continue bulutangkisnya career with foster children in Ciganitri and Moh. Toha. He began to build the GOR on Jl. Soekarno Hatta Bandung. There, he founded the Young PB Means, SGS Electrical embryos. Sponsor changed several times, eventually merged into Sangkuriang Young Means Graha Sarana (SGS) which is a combination of Edi Ismanto PB (former badminton), Lutfi Hamid (PLN officials), and Iie. SGS start breeding and establishing new regional GOR Caringin. Iie sister, Nara Sudjana helped train.
